karl-tepfer > Dusk shot, actually the Atlantic Ocean was behind this dune. It had rained the day before and was quite windy, the "lines in the sand" were quite dramatic and enhanced due to shadows at day's end.
karl-tepfer > Fire Island Lighthouse, February 21, 2008. I seem to keep returning to this same location and am typically rewarded with a surprise. Sometimes, (as can be seen in the next two images) as in the winter of 2004 there was a snow path. Today, I spent about 45 minutes standing in or nearly in freezing water to capture this reflection. I waited until some of the frozen water melted to get a better reflection shot.
Some people walked by me towards the lighthouse, took the tour, then when returning passed me, still standing in the water on the way back. At least they knew to walk quickly so they wouldn't be in my image! (Either that or they thought I was not quite right)

karl-tepfer > Close up of the barnacles, a muscle, and rusting chain on a concrete sea anchor that holds buoys in place. Even though this had been on land about 5 months, and this image was taken in about 20 degrees, the odor was less than appealing.
karl-tepfer > Driftwood from a palm tree I spotted on the beach of the Caribbean ocean.
karl-tepfer > Sunset at Captree in middle of the winter. Sun just about down to my left, as I was facing North. FREEZING cold 35 mph wind in 20 degrees, felt like I was being sand-blasted. But, I got a great parking spot!
